On June 7, 2017, at approximately 4:35 a.m., police were dispatched to a theft in progress on the 3200 block of Patricia Avenue. Information received was that two males had broken into a vehicle and were attempting to steal it. Police arrived on scene and observed two males on foot on Elphinstone Street. Police observed one male throw a firearm into a back yard. Both males ran from police. Police pursued, and observed the first male drop a backpack. A Canine Unit Police Service Dog (PSD) made contact with the first male, who was then apprehended. Ammunition was found on the male, and a search of the dropped backpack revealed cocaine. The firearm was recovered.
Canine tracked the second male to a backyard where the PSD made contact with the male, who was subsequently taken into custody. A search revealed bladed weapon and tools close by.
