On June 1st, 2017, members of the Regina Police Service Drug Unit and Stolen Auto Unit conducted drug enforcement in the area of Albert Street and 6th Avenue North. As a result of an ongoing investigation, a male and female were arrested by police officers in a parking lot of a business in the community.
Evidence collected as part of the investigation included cocaine, methamphetamine, morphine, Canadian currency, cellular phones and drug paraphernalia. A baseball bat was also seized from the vehicle the male was operating. The male suspect sustained minor injuries during the arrest as he attempted to flee the area at the time of the drug enforcement.
A 47 year-old male and a 30 year-old female made their first court appearances in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on June 2nd, 2017, and are jointly charged with the following:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), s. 5(2) CDSA;
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine), s. 5(2) CDSA;
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (hydromorphone), s. 5(2) CDSA;
- Possession of the Proceeds of Crime under $5,000, s. 355(b) CC.
The male accused is also charged with a Breach of Undertaking, contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
