One male adult and four male youths are facing a number of charges arising from investigation into a recent theft of auto case. The accused individuals are 18, 17, 16, 16 and 15 years of age.
On May 9, 2017, at about 8:30 a.m., the Regina Police Service received a report of a stolen vehicle: a black Ford Edge, taken from a residence in the northwest part of the city. On May 10, 2017, the vehicle was seen driving in the city; investigators observed it being parked at the rear of a residence in the 900 block of Robinson Street. Officers were able to situate tire deflation devices in the alley and, when the vehicle left the residence, it made contact with the deflation devices. Police waited until the vehicle came to a stop and then apprehended five males who fled from the vehicle. All five were charged with the possession of the stolen vehicle. Further investigation into the suspects resulted in one being charged in connection with another vehicle theft, stolen from Saskatoon, and possession of stolen property from a May 9th break and enter in NW Regina.
Eighteen year-old KashtIn Earlin Creed QUEWEZANCE, DOB: 1998-12-22, of Regina, is facing five charges including two charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000, s. 355(a) CC and one charge of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000, s. 355(b) CC. QUEWEZANCE made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017.
The youths cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. All are jointly charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000, s. 355(a) CC. In addition, the 15 year-old faces five charges of Breach of Undertaking, s. 145(3) CC. One of the 16 year-old youths faces additional charges of Possession of a Scheduled Substance, s. 4(1) CDSA; Possession of a Prohibited Weapon (expandable baton), s, 92(2) CC; and two breaches of court-ordered conditions. The youths made their first court appearances on these charges in Youth Court at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017.
