A 32 year-old Regina male is facing weapons charges after an incident yesterday involving a machete.
Police were dispatched at about 6:57 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2017, to a house in the 700 block of Garnet Street. Preliminary information indicated there was a male in the residence waving a machete at another occupant of the house. When police arrived, the male suspect had left, but offices were able to obtain a name and description of the person. Patrol officers did a check of the area and located a male, matching the description of the suspect, in the 1000 block of Montague Street. The male was carrying a machete, which he dropped when challenged by police. The male was arrested without further incident. A search incident to the arrest discovered a folding knife in the male’s pocket. The investigation concluded with charges against this individual.
Thirty-two year-old Roy Steven FIDDLER, DOB: 1984-12-31, of Regina is charged with:
Carrying a Concealed Weapon, s. 90 CC;
Possession of a Weapon for a Purpose dangerous to Public Peace, s. 88 CC; and
Breach of Undertaking, s. 145(3) CC.
The accused made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017.
