The Regina Police Service is continuing its investigation into an apparent shooting that occurred on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at a residence in the 1300 block of Athol Street.
Police were dispatched to the 1300 block Athol Street yesterday, at 3:30 p.m., for a report of an injured male. When police arrived they located an 18 year-old male with an apparent gunshot wound. EMS arrived and took over the care of the victim and transported him to hospital. The injuries to the victim, although serious, are not believed to be life-threatening. Several officers were at the scene by this time and while some officers got several other occupants out of the house, other members maintained a safety perimeter. Members of the Forensic Identification Unit attended to gather evidence and investigators obtained a search warrant for the house and property. In addition, animal control officers arrived to take control of two dogs at the residence.
As a result of the search of the property, officers located a sawed-off shotgun and a bag filled with ammunition. These items and other evidence were seized. The investigation into this matter is ongoing.
