Police are seeking information from the public as they investigate a number of recent business robberies. Although some of the details in each case vary, investigators believe that these cases may be related. There are six such cases and they have taken place in past months, usually in the late evening hours. The businesses involved are restaurants and the locations are scattered across the city including businesses on Broad Street, Broadway Avenue, Albert Street, and University Park Drive.
The first of these incidents happened in mid-October of 2016, and the most recent robbery, believed to part of the series, occurred as recently as December. The similar circumstances include: evening hours, typically past 11:00 p.m., threats with a firearm and/or other weapons, and a demand for money from staff. The cases vary in that the descriptions of the suspects are not consistent, leading police to believe there may be a number of suspects involved. The suspects then make off with the cash; in each case it’s assumed they left the area using vehicles. To date, there have been no physical injuries to employees or business patrons; however there is great concern due to the weapons involved.
Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
