A 42 year-old female is facing Impaired Driving and Evade charges following an incident on Monday, January 2, 2017.
On Monday, January 2, 2017, just before midnight, two police units observed a vehicle, with no headlights or tail lights, moving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was located again in the area of Broad Street and 8th Avenue. Another police officer observed the same vehicle a short time later, now moving westbound on Victoria, still speeding and swerving. At one point, the vehicle was stopped, but officers could not safely approach to carry out an arrest. Once the vehicle was underway again, an officer attempted a traffic stop with emergency equipment activated but the driver refused to pull over. Another officer was able to get into position to successfully deploy a spike belt, causing the vehicle to slow and then come to a complete stop, in the area of 11th Avenue and McIntyre Street. The female driver of the vehicle was safely taken into custody without further incident. Subsequent investigation led to charges against this individual.
Forty-two year-old Gina Lucille WHITEMAN, DOB: 1974-07-12, of Fort Qu’Appelle District, is facing charges of Impaired Driving [253(1)(a) CC]; Evade Police [249.1(1) CC]; and Refusal to Provide a Breath Sample [254(5) CC]. The accused was released for a court appearance in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017.
