On December 29, 2016, at approximately 8:00 p.m. police were dispatched to the 300 block of Broad Street for a report of a robbery. A suspect armed with a hammer approached an individual who had just parked their vehicle and demanded that they exit. The suspect entered the vehicle and fled the scene. The victim was not injured.
The suspect is described as being a Caucasian male, thin build, 20-30 yrs, light coloured hair, wearing a toque, blue jeans, a dark jacket, and carrying a hammer.
Police are also investigating a second incident that occurred shortly after and is believed to be related. At approximately 8:06 p.m. police were dispatched to the 400 block of Broad Street North for a report of a robbery. A suspect entered a business armed with a hammer and demanded money. The suspect grabbed the cash register and exited the premises with an unknown amount of cash. The suspect then left the area in a dark-coloured vehicle. The suspect and vehicle matched the description from the previous robbery. There is no further information that can be released at this time.
