A 20 year-old male is in police custody for his alleged involvement in an incident last night (Thursday, November 24, 2016) in the 2100 block of Park Street, which sent three males to hospital. One of the victims, a 31 year-old male, has injuries described as life-threatening.
Police were dispatched at approximately 9:20 p.m. on Thursday, November 24, 2016, to the 2100 block of Park Street after numerous, simultaneous calls of a person in distress. When police arrived, a number of people were at the scene, beside a parked cab, trying to assist an injured male. According to early information, it appears there was an altercation inside the cab, which continued after the driver stopped and attempted to exit the vehicle. Police members arrived and found one injured, but ambulatory, male as well as a seriously injured male. EMS attended and transported both males to hospital. Meanwhile, other information was coming in indicating there was another injured male in the area of Park and Abbott Street; he was also taken to hospital by EMS; and a fourth male at a business on the service road in the 900 block of East Victoria Avenue, who was behaving suspiciously. Police arrived and took this individual into custody based on his suspected involvement. This individual, a 20 year-old male, did not require medical assistance.
Investigation into this event is still ongoing. Police believe all four individuals are connected to the same incident, but more investigation is needed to determine their roles and culpability, if any. One of the injured persons: a 22 year-old male, has been treated in hospital and released. Two others: a 31 year-old male and a 24 year-old male remain in hospital.
