As Regina welcomes visitors from around the province, country, and world, we are hoping that Agribition is enjoyed by all, free from the nuisance of property crime. Unfortunately, there were forty-two incidents of mischief this past weekend; many of those broken vehicle windows. Typically, this type of crime occurs when thieves break a window to access valuables left in plain sight inside the vehicle.
Both residents and visitors to Regina can practise a few simple strategies to help reduce property crime, victimization, and its associated costs.
- If at all possible, park in well-lit, non-secluded areas.
- Lock your vehicle and take your keys. Do not leave spare keys hidden in your vehicle, as thieves will check the usual hiding spots.
- Thieves can only take what’s left behind, so the only way to be absolutely certain they won’t take your valuable items from your vehicle is to take those valuables and store them in a more secure place.
