The Regina Police Service is conducting a death investigation in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Regina Fire and Protective Services. The death investigation follows the discovery of a deceased person in a residence, in the 1500 block of McTavish Street, that was the site of a large fire on October 5th. At the time, the premises were searched as well as could be, given the extreme heat and the instability of the structure.
The identity of the deceased person is not yet known. It is not possible, at this time, to confirm the gender of the deceased person. Investigators are waiting for the results of an autopsy, ordered by the Office of the Chief Coroner, to assist in identifying this person. In the interim, the house is being held as a potential crime scene.
Anyone who may have information that could assist in this investigation is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
