A 27 year-old Regina male and a 17 year-old male youth, also from Regina, are facing charges of Attempted Murder in connection with a very serious physical assault on a 14 year-old boy.
On Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at about 1:00 p.m., police were dispatched to a house in the 1100 block of Cameron Street for a report of a seriously injured young male. Police and EMS attended and located a male, later identified as a 14 year-old, in serious condition inside the residence. It is alleged he was the victim of a serious, sustained physical assault. The victim was transported to hospital and remains there for medical care. Investigation into this incident led to identification of two suspects. A 27 year-old male was located and arrested, without incident, on Saturday, May 14, 2016. The second suspect: a 17 year-old, was located and arrested, without incident, the next day: Sunday, May 15, 2016. Both males were subsequently charged.
Twenty-seven year-old Joshua Brendan BIRD, DOB: 1989-02-09, of Regina, is charged with Attempt Murder [239(1)(b) CC]. BIRD makes his first court appearance on this charge in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016.
The 17 year-old male youth, who cannot be identified in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is facing a charge of Attempt Murder [239(1)(b) CC]. The accused will be in Youth Court on Monday, May 16, at 2:00 p.m.
