The Regina Police Service is asking for the public’s co-operation in securing property. The warm weather prompts most people to spend more time outdoors and that can include criminals looking for easy targets. Spring traditionally brings an increase in property crimes like Break and Enters, Thefts from Auto and Mischiefs.
Recently there has been a spike in Garage B&Es in East Regina. Here are some tips for securing your home, valuables and vehicles:
- Lock garage doors; both outside doors and the attached doors that lead into your house.
- Secure your valuables. Bikes should still have locks on them, even if in the garage/shed.
- Install motion sensor lights by your driveway/doors. Thieves thrive in the night; Make it bright!
- Lock your vehicle and don’t leave keys, garage door openers or valuables inside it.
Police are asking Regina residents to be observant and report any suspicious activity, vehicles or people to police by calling 777-6500. Anyone who sees a crime in progress should call 9-1-1. Anyone, who has information pertaining to a garage break and enter or theft from auto incident, should call 777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. The Regina Police Service thanks the media and the public for their co-operation and assistance.
