Between November 16 and November 26, the Regina Police Service had received numerous complaints from businesses and financial institutions of counterfeit American twenty, fifty and hundred dollar bills being used to purchase products and services in the City of Regina. The Regina Police Commercial Crimes Unit conducted an intensive investigation which led to search warrants being executed at 2 addresses in Regina on November 26, 2015. In the searches, Regina Police seized over $4800.00 in counterfeit US bills, equipment used in the manufacture of counterfeit money, and drugs.
While conducting the searches police arrested 3 men and one woman on numerous charges:
The following persons were charged and appeared in court Friday morning:
- Gregory Troy Hamilton (45) of Regina, DOB: 1970/07/15, charged with:
- 3 Counts of Possession of American counterfeit money, Section 450 of the Criminal Code
- 3 Counts of Uttering American counterfeit money, Section 452(a) of the Criminal Code
- Fail to Comply with Recognizance, Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code
- Traffic in Scheduled Substance (cocaine), Section 5(1) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Julie Michelle Langley (38) of Regina, DOB: 1977/06/29, charged with:
- Possession of American counterfeit money, Section 450 of the Criminal Code
- Uttering American counterfeit money, Section 452(a) of the Criminal Code
- Traffic in Scheduled Substance (cocaine), Section 5(1) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Richard Austin Nelson (39) of Regina, DOB: 1976/10/07, charged with:
- 2 Counts of Possession of American counterfeit money, Section 450 of the Criminal Code
- Uttering American counterfeit money, Section 452(a) of the Criminal Code
- Possession of counterfeit making equipment, Section 458(d) of the Criminal Code
- Production of counterfeit money, Section 449 of the Criminal Code
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance (hydramorphone), Section 4(1) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Trevor Thomas Trueit (48) of Williams Lake, B.C., DOB: 1967/02/23, charged with:
- Possession of American counterfeit money, Section 450 of the Criminal Code
- Possession of counterfeit making equipment, Section 458(d) of the Criminal Code
- Production of counterfeit money, Section 449 of the Criminal Code
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance (hydramorphone), Section 4(1) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
All four were held until their next appearance in court, Monday, November 30, at 2pm.
