The Regina Police Service wishes to add a note of clarification to a previous news release, concerning an aggravated assault on a 47 year-old male on Elizabeth Crescent on Thursday, November 5, 2015.
Although the original release, noting the life-saving actions of a Regina Police Service member, is accurate, there is additional information to add. It is important to recognize that the compassion and actions of the members of one household also contributed to the survival of the victim. When the wounded victim went to the front door of a house, the homeowner applied a towel to the victim’s wound and called 911 to bring police and EMS to the victim’s assistance. By recognizing the efforts of the responding police members there was no intention to ignore the contribution of the citizens involved.
Every year, since 2002 the Regina Police service has held an annual Awards Ceremony to recognize the contributions to our community’s safety and the quality of life of its residents by police members, partners in the community and individual Regina citizens. The account of this event has been forwarded to the awards committee for consideration.
As always, the Regina Police Service thanks the public for its cooperation and trust. Although we have different roles, we all contribute to public safety and well-being in our community.
