It’s the Labour Day Long Weekend! Long weekends are great for time away at the lake or campground, taking students to college in another city, yard work at home, or a Rider football game. Wherever you are, the Regina Police Service is encouraging everyone to lock their cars, homes and garages when not in use. Don’t leave vehicles unlocked or with keys left in the ignition or anywhere else in the vehicle. Take your garage door openers into the house with you; don’t leave them in your vehicle, especially if it’s left unlocked. Keep all valuables and spare change out of sight, so as not to entice possible thefts. Lock your garage doors when not at home and at night.
August 2015 Fast Facts:
- 117 Theft of Auto
- 206 Thefts from Auto
- 84 Garage B&E’s
- 55 Residential B&E’s
We encourage everyone to lock their vehicles and take all valuables into their home with them, to discourage this kind of behavior. If there’s nothing left in plain sight in the car, the thief might not even bother, and will hopefully move on. Many of the vehicles that are broken into have unlocked doors. As always, please report suspicious activity to police by calling 306-777-6500. If you see a crime in progress, call 9-1-1. Help prevent theft, #LockItOrLoseIt.
