A 32 year-old male and 27 year-old female face charges of Assault after an incident at the Legislative Building earlier this afternoon.
Today at approximately 1:00 p.m. police were dispatched to the Legislative Building for the report of an assault. Since Sunday, three people who were denied entry into the Legislative Building have been attempting to gain access.
Today, two of the above mentioned, a 32 year-old male and a 27 year-old female, attempted to physically gain access into the Legislative Building. Two Legislative security officers denied their access, and a physical confrontation ensued. A security officer was assaulted and transported to the hospital for medical care. His injuries are described as non-life threatening. No one else was injured in this incident.
The male and female were taken into custody by police.
Thirty-two year-old Colin D. RICH (DOB: 1982/09/15), of Regina, is charged with Obstruct a Peace Officer [270(1)(A) CC], Assault a Peace Officer [129(A) CC], and two charges of Assault [266 CC].
Twenty-seven year-old Gianina Susan BURNARD (DOB: 1987/11/18), of Regina, is charged with Assault a Peace Officer Causing Bodily Harm [270.01(1)(B) CC].
RICH and BURNARD make their first appearance in Provincial Court on these charges on Thursday, August 27th at 9:30 a.m.
