On July 11, 2015, at 2:37 A.M., the Regina Police Service received a report of an abandoned vehicle in the 200 block of Garnet Street.
A dark colored vehicle was parked halfway in a driveway with the other half angled out onto the street.
Police observed the vehicle and learned that it was a stolen vehicle and had two occupants who appeared to be sleeping inside.
Once they were awoken, the occupants of the vehicle attempted to drive away and subsequently hit a parked vehicle in one driveway and crashed into a nearby house.
Oleoresin Capsicum, commonly referred to as pepper spray was deployed by officers and which resulted in a male and female being apprehended and arrested without further incident.
Investigation into this matter is continuing and details of the charges and individuals appearing in court will be released as soon as they are available.
The deployment of pepper spray has been documented as per policy and will be reviewed by a Use of Force Committee – a committee with the Service. All uses of force are also reported to the Saskatchewan Police Commission.
