A 24 year-old Regina male has been charged in connection with a sexual assault that occurred on Saturday, May 16, 2015, in an alley in the area of the 2000 block of Cornwall Street. In that incident, a 28 year-old female was accosted by a male, choked into unconsciousness and then sexually assaulted. The victim reported to police, giving a description of the suspect. At the time, police searched the area but did not locate the suspect. An earlier news release, advised the public of the incident and also requested any information to assist in the investigation.
On Monday, May 18, 2015, at 11:30 p.m., while on an investigation into an unrelated incident, police arrested a male for being intoxicated in a public place. The male matched the description of the suspect in the sexual assault case, prompting the officers to investigate further. As the result of evidence gathered through investigation, a 24 year-old male is facing charges in connection to the May 16th sexual assault.
Twenty-four year-old Kenton Arnold DESJARLAIS, DOB: 1990-11-29, of Regina, is charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault [273 CC] and Overcome Resistance by Attempting to Choke [246(a) CC]. DESJARLAIS will make his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2015.
