A 32 year-old male has been charged with Attempt Murder as the result of investigation into a weapons offence that occurred on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, in the area of 12th Avenue and Halifax Streets. A 29 year-old male victim was taken to hospital with apparent stab wounds.
Just before 4:00 p.m., on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, police were dispatched, initially, to the 1800 block of Osler Street for a male who was the victim of an apparent assault with a weapon. The 29 year-old male victim was transported to hospital by EMS for assessment and treatment. Investigation revealed that the incident had actually occurred in the area of 12th Avenue and Halifax Streets as the result of an altercation. Police arrested one male suspect at a residence in the 1800 block of Halifax Street.
Thirty-two year-old Adam Ryan SANGWAIS, DOB: 1982-11-02, of Regina is charged with Attempt Murder [239(1) CC]. SANGWAIS will make his first court appearance on this charge in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015.
During the search for the suspect in the stabbing, at approximately 4:15 p.m., police approached a male in the alley at Halifax and 12th Avenue, who was found to have a modified firearm in the waistband of his pants. He was also found to be carrying a concealed knife. The male was safely taken into custody. The handle of the firearm was cut off of the weapon and the barrel was cut down. Investigation revealed it was reported stolen from Lumsden, Saskatchewan. This suspect was charged with weapons-related charges, but it was determined that he was not involved in the Attempt Murder.
Twenty-three year-old Keli William STONECHILD, DOB: 1992-02-27, of Regina is facing two charges of Carrying a Concealed Weapon [90 CC]; Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon [92(2) CC]; Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition [117.01(1) CC]; and Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime [96(1) CC]. STONECHILD has been remanded and will make his next court appearance on the charge in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. today, Thursday, April 30, 2015.
