On Thursday, April 2, 2015, members of the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit were involved in a Joint investigation with officers from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
CBSA officers at the North Portal border crossing arrested Andrew Benito FERRER (DOB-1975-03-02) of Houston, Texas, for possession of Child Pornography as he attempted to enter Canada.
Numerous computer storage devices were seized by members of the Saskatchewan ICE Unit for further analysis.
FERRER was charged with Possession of Child Pornography- 163.1(4) CC and Importation of Child Pornography 163.1(3) CC.
FERRER made his first court appearance in Estevan on Monday April 6, 2015, and was set over for Tuesday April 7, 2015 in Weyburn.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the R.C.M.P., Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
