Three males: a 17 year-old, an 18 year-old and a 20 year-old; are facing charges in connection with a robbery that occurred on Sunday, March 8, 2015, in the 100 block of Brotherton Avenue.
At approximately 11:15 p.m. on Sunday, March 8th, police were dispatched to the 100 block of Brotherton Avenue for a report of a robbery. It appears the two male victims, ages 18 and 19, arrived at a parking lot on Brotherton Avenue in a pre-arranged meeting with the suspects. Police believe the meeting was arranged for the purpose of a drug-buy. Instead, it’s alleged the suspects threatened the victims with knives and demanded money. The suspects fled in a red Buick. The victims initially followed the suspect vehicle but then called police. Officers were able to locate a vehicle, matching the description of the suspect vehicle, at a service station in the 1900 block of Fleet Street. Police carried out a high-risk vehicle stop and arrested the three occupants of the suspect vehicle. Subsequent investigation led to charges against the three male suspects. The victims were not physically harmed in this incident.
The 17-year-old accused cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The 17 year-old is charged with Armed Robbery [343(d) CC] and Possession of a Weapon for the Purpose of Committing an Offence [88 CC]. He will appear in Youth Court at 2:00 p.m. today, Monday, March 9, 2015.
Eighteen year-old Abdiaziz Mohamed RAGE, DOB: 1997-01-01, of Surrey, B.C., and 20 year-old Liban ABDI, DOB: 1994-10-14, of Regina, are jointly charged with Armed Robbery [343(d) CC] and Possession of a Weapon for the Purpose of Committing an Offence [88 CC]. In addition ABDI is charged with Carrying a Concealed [90 CC]; and Possession of a Controlled Substance (marihuana) [4(5) CDSA]. Both RAGE and ABDI will appear in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. today, Monday, March 9, 2015.
