During the arrest, the male became assaultive to police and a struggle ensued. The female police officer deployed her CEW and the male was successfully taken into custody. The suspect was assessed by EMS and treated at the scene. He was transported to RPS detention and subsequently charged. The officers were not injured as a result of the altercations.

He will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on March 19, 2015. As this is a domestic assault the name of the accused is not being provided as it would potentially identify the victim.
The use of the CEW has been documented as per policy and will be reviewed by a Use of Force Committee, a committee within the Service. All uses of force are also reported to the Saskatchewan Police Commission.
