Two people: a 34 year-old male and 36 year-old female, are facing a number of charges in connection with an incident in which a 21 year-old male had gasoline poured on him and his house set afire.
On Friday, February 13, 2015, at about 3:00 p.m., police were dispatched to a house fire at a residence on Ottawa Place at the request of Regina Fire and Protective Services, who recognized that there was a criminal aspect to the incident. At the house, police found a 21 year-old male and 18 year-old female, who were first taken to hospital by EMS for assessment and then interviewed. The male suffered relatively minor injuries consistent with an assault; the female was not physically hurt. Preliminary investigation into this event indicates that two males broke into the house, assaulted the male resident, poured gasoline on him and inside the house and then set the house on fire. The male victim made it out of the house where it’s alleged he was assaulted by a female. A female companion of the victim made it out of the house, unhurt. The suspects drove away, with a fourth person, an unknown female. Investigation into this event led to the arrest, a day later, of a 34 year-old male and 36 year-old female. It is alleged the female was in possession of cocaine and methamphetamine. They were subsequently charged. This investigation is ongoing.
