The Regina Police Service has been asked to respond to the revelation, as reported in the media, that the complainant in a recent allegation against police has admitted to making misleading statements.
The Service would like to remind the media and the public that the investigation into the original complaint by the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) is still ongoing. The Regina Police Service continues to support this investigation by cooperating fully with the PCC. The Service is satisfied that the investigation is progressing at a steady rate and awaits the conclusion of this matter.
In the interim: the Regina Police Service is encouraged to see messages of support from our community but asks that people do not confuse support with misguided expressions that seek to demean, bully or intimidate the complainant in this event. The Service will not endorse, or align itself with, messages from anyone who chooses to perpetuate divisions in our community.
The Regina Police Service has confidence in the Public Complaints process and anticipates the outcome of this investigation.
