Two Regina males, both 16 years old, are facing a charge of First-Degree Murder in connection with the murder, earlier this week, of a 16 year-old Regina girl.
This investigation began on Monday, January 12, 2015 at approximately 5:43 p.m., when police and EMS were dispatched to a home in the 400 Block of Garnet Street North for a report of an injured, possibly deceased, person. Police located a 16 year-old female inside the residence, who was confirmed deceased by EMS. Investigation into this death resulted in the arrests of two male youths who have now been charged. The name of the victim will not be released by the Regina Police Service.
The 16 year-old males, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are jointly charged with First-Degree Murder, contrary to section 235 of the Criminal Code of Canada. They will make their first appearance on the charge in Youth Court at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2015.
