As the result of continued investigation into drug trafficking in the city of Regina, three males are facing charges after police executed a CDSA search warrant on Saturday, January 10, 2015.
The warrant was obtained under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and executed at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at a house in the 800 block of Princess Street. Because police believed the suspects had access to firearms, the warrant was executed with the help of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. The search revealed a small quantity of marihuana, equipment consistent with the measurement and distribution of drugs, as well as two handgun-style pellet guns. Three males were taken into custody without incident. Subsequent investigation led to charges against the three individuals.
Twenty-six year-old Liban Ahmed GURE, DOB: 1988-04-13, of Regina, is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (marihuana) [4(5) CDSA] and Breach of Undertaking [145(3) CC]. Thirty-one year-old Jalil Abdo WAHAP, DOB: 1983-12-06, of Regina, is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (marihuana) [4(5) CDSA]. Forty-three year-old Martin Dennis LABONTE, DOB: 1971-11-21, of Regina, is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (marihuana) [4(5) CDSA] and Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition [117.01(1) CC]. GURE was released on an Undertaking; WAHAP and LABONTE were released on a Recognizance All three are scheduled to make their court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. February 24, 2015.
