Two people are facing numerous Fraud-related, Theft and Possession of Stolen Property charges after an investigation prompted by the recent thefts of appliances, electronics and furnishings from hotel rooms.
On Tuesday, December 16, 2014, the Regina Police Service was contacted by Moose Jaw Police Service who advised of suspects in the Moose Jaw area who were believed to have committed frauds and thefts in local hotels. Through their investigation, Moose Jaw Police obtained evidence indicating the possible presence of these suspects at a Regina hotel. Regina Police Service members attended a local hotel in the Harbour Landing neighbourhood and located a 35 year-old male and a 33 year-old female. Officers found that the male was wanted on a Canada wide warrant for Breach of Statutory Release. There were also outstanding warrants against this male from Melville and Esterhazy. The two were arrested and further investigation into their activities led to numerous Fraud-related, Theft and Possession of Stolen Property charges.
Thirty-five year-old Tyler Curtis GURSKEY, DOB: 1979-07-21, of Regina, is charged with:
- Two (2) charges of Fraudulently Obtaining Food or Lodging [364(1) CC];
- Two (2) charges of Fraud under $5,000 [380(1)(b) CC];
- Four (4) charges of Theft under $5,000 [334(b) CC];
- Two (2) charges of Possession of Stolen Property under $5,000 [355(b) CC];
- Forgery [367 CC]; and
- Uttering a Forged Document [368(1)(b) CC].
Thirty-three year-old Jennifer WOODFORD, DOB: 1981-04-23, of no fixed address, is charged with:
- Fraud under $5,000 [380(1)(b) CC];
- Two (2) charges of Fraudulently Obtaining Food or Lodging [364(1) CC];
- Two (2) charges of Theft under $5,000 [334(b) CC];
- Forgery [367 CC]; and
- Uttering a Forged Document [368(1)(b) CC].
Both accused individuals will appear in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2014. The investigation into similar, possibly-related files continues, in co-operation with other municipal police services and the RCMP.
