Chief Troy Hagen has announced the next Deputy Chief of the Regina Police Service. Inspector Dean Rae will move from his current role as the Executive Officer to Deputy Chief, effective Sunday, November 2, 2014. This appointment fills the vacancy left by the retirement of Bob Morin, who retired this week from the Regina Police Service after almost 34 years of service.
Inspector Rae is a 24-year member of the Regina Police Service, being sworn in on Jan 2, 1990. The new Deputy Chief has worked in the following areas: Patrol, Criminal Investigations Division, Watch Commander, North District Administration, Criminal Investigation Administration and the Executive Officer. He was promoted to Inspector in September, 2008.
Also announced yesterday: Inspector Corey Zaharuk has been promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Community Services Division, sometimes referred to as Patrol, effective Sunday, November 2nd. Inspector Zaharuk is a 19-year member with the Regina Police Service and has worked in the following areas: Patrol, Criminal Investigations Division (including Major Crimes), Watch Commander and South District Administration. He was promoted to Inspector in March, 2012.
These appointments initiate other internal promotions including that of Staff Sergeant Evan Bray, who has been promoted to the rank of Inspector.
