The Regina Police Service reports the deployment of a CEW, or Conducted Energy Weapon, last night, in the arrest of an adult male. This notification is in keeping with a commitment from the Regina Police Service to notify the public of every deployment of a CEW, also commonly known as a Taser. This arrest occurred just before 9:30 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2014.
At approximately 9:19 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2014, police were dispatched to the 2300 block of Cornwall Street for the report of a domestic disturbance. Police arrived at the residence where a 42 year-old male and a 40 year-old female were present. During the investigation the male became agitated and confrontational, and as a result, an altercation took place resulting in a CEW deployment and the male’s arrest. The 42 year-old male was assessed by EMS but refused service. Two police officers received minor injuries.
Forty-two year-old Tige Andrew Charles SHAW (DOB: 1972/09/08) is charged with 2 charges of Assault a Peace Officer [270(1)(a) CC] and one charge of Resist Peace Officer [129(a) CC]. Shaw makes his first court appearance today, Friday, October 24th, 2014, at 2:00 p.m.
