The Regina Police Service is currently investigating a possible weapons offence involving a firearm that occurred this evening (Tuesday), September 9, 2014, in the area of St John Street and 1st Avenue North.
At about 5:36 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, police were dispatched to the area of St John Street and 1st Avenue North, after a report that gunshots were heard. The early information indicated that a male, believed to be in possession of a firearm, was chasing another male on foot. Both males were running eastbound on 1st Avenue North. When police arrived and did an area check, they did not locate either male, but further investigation led them to a residence in the 400 block of Ottawa Street. Police set up a safety perimeter and made contact with the occupants of the house. At this time, the occupants of the house have come out to talk to investigators who will determine what role, if any, they played in the earlier event. In the meantime, other officers are continuing to gather information from witnesses and other residents of the neighborhood. In addition, this incident may have involved a vehicle, which caused some property damage in the area; however, further investigation is required to obtain more details on this aspect of the case.
Anyone who has information that can assist police in this investigation is asked to contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Additional details will be released upon further investigation.
