Can you see the spare change, extra set of car keys, new pair of Nike runners or your new iPad that you left on the seat of your car? So can everyone else, which means it’s accessible, even to thieves.
We all understand being in a hurry, but just take a second to double check and make sure nothing is in plain sight when you leave your car. Lock your doors and hide your valuables or take them with you. Put your “parking money” in a change purse in the glove box. Take your keys with you. If you can’t see it, neither can anyone else, and the thieves may more on to an easier target.
In the month of June, there were 39 vehicles stolen with keys in them in Regina. That brings the 2014 total to 143 vehicles stolen with keys in them. The theft from vehicles number is 906 incidents so far in 2014.
