The Regina Police Service is no longer pursuing a criminal investigation into an incident on Thursday, June 5, 2014 that resulted in serious injuries to a 69 year-old Regina male. It now appears the injuries were self-inflicted.
The incident happened just before 8:54 a.m., on Thursday, June 5, 2014, in the 3800 block of Albert Street. It was initially reported to police as an assault and robbery. Immediately after the event occurred, investigators were concerned about how the male had sustained his injuries, since there were inconsistencies between the information and physical evidence. With the help of other agencies, police have now concluded that this is not a criminal case; the evidence indicates the injuries sustained by the male were self-inflicted.
Police will carry the matter to its conclusion.
