A twenty-nine year-old man has been charged in connection with a robbery yesterday evening outside a business in the 4000 block of Albert Street. The victim is a 70 year-old male.
Police were dispatched at approximately 4:11 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2014, to a business in the 4000 block of Albert Street for a report of an assault in progress. When police arrived, they located the victim, a 70 year-old male, who had been punched in the face; he was being assisted by other citizens, prior to EMS arrival. Preliminary investigation indicates a male briefly entered the business and then exited the store, approached a customer and tried to rob him of his purchases. When the victim resisted, he was punched in the face. The suspect fled before police arrived. Further investigation led to the identification of a suspect vehicle and the arrest, at about 7:40 p.m., of a male matching the description of the suspect. The male was subsequently charged in connection with this incident and police are continuing their investigation to locate a possible second suspect.
Twenty-nine year-old Tyler Leon Joe ALEXSON, DOB: 1985-03-01, of Regina, is charged with Robbery/Assault With Intent to Steal [343(b) CC]; and two charges of Breach of Recognizance [145(3) CC]. ALEXSON will make his first appearance in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 13, 2014. The investigation into this matter is ongoing.
