As the result of his review of a recent Public Complaints Commission investigation, Chief of Police Troy Hagen has announced three charges under the Municipal Police Discipline Regulations against a senior member of the Regina Police Service.
The Public Complaints Commission, an independent body which investigates public complaints against the police, received allegations, in late January, 2014, of inappropriate conduct against a member of the Regina Police Service. These allegations pertain to the Municipal Police Discipline Regulations, as set out in The Police Act, 1990. This was not a criminal investigation. The investigation was carried out by the Public Complaints Commission and, as per the established process, the matter was sent to Chief of Police, Troy Hagen, in late March, for his review.
As a result, the member is charged with Discreditable Conduct, Neglect of Duty and Improper Disclosure of Information under the Municipal Police Discipline Regulations, pursuant to The Saskatchewan Police Act, 1990. The member, who was placed on administrative leave on April 1, 2014, has now been suspended pending the outcome of the discipline matters. In keeping with established practice, in internal discipline matters, the name of the member will not be made public by the Regina Police Service.
