The Regina Police Service, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner, has begun a death investigation after the discovery of a deceased person in a burned house.
Earlier today, Regina Fire and Protective Services contacted police to report the discovery of a deceased person in a house in the 1400 block Wascana Street. Firefighters had been dispatched to the house just after 6:15 a.m. today, Sunday, March 23, 2014. Just before 7:00 a.m., firefighters located the body of an unknown, deceased person inside the house. Police and the Coroner were called to the scene and a death investigation is now underway, in addition to the fire investigation, which will involve Regina Fire & Protective Services and the Regina Police Service. The scene will be held, pending further investigation.
The identity of the deceased person is not known at this time. Because of the fire, confirmation of the identity of the deceased person will take some time.
