Three Regina males have been charged in connection with two incidents that occurred on the evening of February 21, 2014.
At 8:48 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2014, police were dispatched to the alley of the 600 block of Montague Street for a report of a robbery in a taxicab. The complainant, the driver of the taxicab, reported that he had picked up three individuals, who had instructed him to drive them to the alley of the 600 Block Montague, where he was then robbed at knifepoint. The suspects got into the cab and attempted to start it, but were unable to start the push-to-start ignition correctly and fled on foot.
At 9:25 p.m., police were dispatched to a second report of a robbery of a taxicab the 1500 block of Retallack Street. In this incident, the complainant stated that three male suspects had just robbed him, cut him with a knife, and stole his taxicab. Police found the vehicle abandoned on the 1600 block of Rae Street.
Suspects matching the description provided were located getting into a third cab in the 1600 block of Rae Street. The three suspects were arrested. One of the suspects had identification belonging to the first victim in his possession; another suspect had blood from one of the victims on his clothing.
Charged in these incidents are 25 year-old Matthew Davis THOMAS (DOB: 1988/09/18), 24 year-old Michael Riley OBEY (DOB: 1988/09/18), and 19 year-old Patrick Robert ASHAM (DOB: 1995/01/14).
In both occurrences, ASHAM is charged with Fail to Comply with Probation Order [733.1(1) CC] and in both occurrences all three are charged with Robbery with Violence [343(b) CC]. All three males appeared in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. today, Monday, February 22, 2014.
