The Regina Police Service is asking for help from the public in its investigations into a series of recent armed robberies. Police believe the same male suspect may be responsible for four armed robberies in Regina in the past four days. In each incident, the description of the suspect is very similar.
The first of these robberies occurred on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at a gas station in the 4500 block of Albert Street. A male, armed with a knife, entered the business and demanded cash from the employee on duty. The victim was not physically harmed, but the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. There have also been robberies in the following locations:
– a financial institution in the 2700 block of Avonhurst Drive on Thursday, February 13, 2014;
– a restaurant in the 100 block of McDonald Street north on Friday, February 14, 2014; and
– a restaurant in the 300 block of Albert Street on Saturday, February 15, 2014.
Each if these incidents have occurred in the evening hours; fortunately none have, so far, involved injuries to the victims. In each case, the suspect is described as a Caucasian male, about 30-50 years old, approximately 6′ tall, medium to heavy build, carrying a knife.
The Regina Police Service is reminding business owners to review safety procedures with employees, ensuring that they phone 9-1-1 immediately in the event of a robbery or other emergency. The chances of apprehending a suspect improve greatly if police are called quickly.
