A 30 year-old Regina male will make an appearance in Provincial Court this afternoon (Thursday, January 2, 2014) facing a number of charges in connection with an assault with a weapon on New Year’s Day.
On Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at approximately 1:25 p.m., police were dispatched to a house in the 400 block of Montreal Street for a report that a 34 year-old male at that address had been assaulted. When police arrived, they learned that a 47 year-old female at the same house alleged that the same suspect had threatened her with a firearm, in addition to the original allegation. Because of the potential of firearms in the house, police established a safety perimeter and made contact with the occupants of the house. The people in the house, eight in total, were negotiated out by police and interviewed. A search warrant was obtained for the premises and a firearm was located. As a result of the investigation, a 30 year-old male was charged with the assault and uttering threats, as well as number of firearms offences.
