The Regina Police Service, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner, has begun a death investigation after police were called to the creek near 1st Avenue and Albert Street just before noon today, Wednesday, October 30, 2013.
Police were dispatched to the area, just west of the 700 block of Albert Street after a 9-1-1 call at 11:37 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2013. The caller described what appeared to be a body, face-down in the creek. This was confirmed by the first police members at the scene. The Coroner was requested to the scene and patrol members established a perimeter around the area. At this time, members of the Forensic Identification section, the Major Crimes section and the Underwater Investigation and Recovery Team have been called out to the scene.
At this early stage in the investigation, there are no other details for release. The gender, age and identity of the deceased are not yet known.
