Regina Police at the Canadian Police Canine Association Championships

Cpl Tunison and Axle (left image) placed 4th in the Evidence competition and 1st in the Compound Search competition. Cpl Lorence and Kruz placed 5th in Compound Search, and 1st in Evidence and placed 2nd Overall in the CPCA Trials.

The Regina Police Service would like to congratulate our members on their accomplishments at the Canadian Police Canine Association Championship Trials.

From September 18^th to September 23^rd, Cpl. Tunison and Corporal Lorence, and their respective police dogs, Axl and Kruz attended the championship trials in Saanich, British Columbia, where police canine teams from across Canada and beyond compete in events and demonstrations which specialize in narcotics or explosives detection. Cpl Tunison and Axl placed 4^th in the Evidence competition and 1^st in the Compound Search competition. Cpl Lorence and Kruz placed 5^th in Compound Search, and 1^st in Evidence and placed 2^nd Overall in the CPCA Trials.

The Canadian Police Canine Association (CPCA) Championships are hosted by different police agencies from year to year.  Regina hosted this event last year in 2012; The trials are not used as a certification or validation for the participating teams; all dogs competing at this competition have already been certified by their own agencies.  The CPCA Championships are organized for the positive spin-offs of friendly competition, and networking between dog handlers and their respective agencies. Typically the trials consist of two or three days of competition, seminars and a public day.
