The Regina Police Service has begun a death investigation, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner, after the death, earlier this evening, of a one year-old female child.
At approximately 11:13 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013, police assisted EMS and RF&PS at a house in the 6200 block of Dalgleish Drive, for a report of a baby who was having trouble breathing. The caregiver of the child called 9-1-1. The infant girl received emergency medical treatment and was transported to hospital by EMS. At approximately 10:35 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013, police were informed that the baby had died in hospital. The family is aware of the child’s death. The name of the deceased child will not be released at this time.
Police and the Coroner have begun an investigation into this incident to learn more about the circumstances of the child’s death. At this early stage in the investigation, the activities include gathering any potential evidence and speaking with a number of people in efforts to determine the circumstances of the child’s death.
