A 42 year-old Regina male is facing a total of 14 firearms and drug charges, following an incident last night in the 1900 block of Arthur Street.
At approximately 2:08 a.m., on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, police were dispatched to the 1900 block of Arthur Street for a report of a suspicious vehicle. When police arrived onscene, they found a vehicle matching the description given in the call. There was a male inside the vehicle and police observed a substance that appeared to be marihuana. The male was detained for further investigation, including a search of the van, which led to the discovery of a loaded rifle and other weapons. It was also determined that the male was the subject of outstanding warrants. Subsequent investigation led to a total of fourteen charges against the male suspect.
Forty-two year-old Miles Adrian MITCHELL, DOB: 1970/12/14 of Regina is facing five charges of Possession (of ammunition and weapons) contrary to order [117.1(1) CC]; Careless Use of a Firearm [86(1) CC]; four charges of Possession of a Firearm [92(1) CC]; Possession of a Prohibited Weapon [92(2) CC]; Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle [94(1)(a)(i) CC]; Unsafe Storage of a Firearm [86(2) CC]; and Possession of Marihuana [4(5) CDSA]. MITCHELL made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2013.
