A 44 year-old male, an eleven-year member of the Regina Police Service, who is facing criminal charges relating to the theft of a credit card (gift card), has resigned from his position with the Regina Police Service. This notice is being issued in accordance with past practice of the Regina Police Service, consistent with the Service’s commitment to public accountability.
It is alleged the theft of credit card occurred while the officer was on duty. The former constable was placed on administrative leave after his arrest on July 18, 2013. On August 12, 2013, Chief Troy Hagen accepted BLAMPIED’s resignation, effective immediately.
“I wish to make it clear that, had Mr. Blampied not resigned, it was our intention to dismiss him,” said Chief Hagen, “And, even though Mr. Blampied’s resignation effectively ends the administrative process and discipline, it should be emphasized that this is separate from the criminal matters against him. The criminal matters continue as carried forward by the Crown.”
Forty-four year-old Darryl G. BLAMPIED, DOB: 1968-11-20, of Regina, is charged with Theft of Credit Card [342(1)(a) CC]; Possession and Use of a Stolen Credit Card [342(1)(c) CC]; Theft Under $5,000 [334(b) CC] and two charges of Possession of Stolen Property Under $5,000 [355(b) CC]. BLAMPIED will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on September 9, 2013.
