Three males are in police custody and charges are pending the outcome of an investigation into a weapons complaint that began earlier this morning on the 1100 block of Retallack Street.
There are only limited details available at this stage, but this call began when a police officer was flagged down by a motorist this morning (Tuesday, July 9, 2013) at about 8:09 a.m. The motorist said he thought his vehicle had been shot at by someone in a house on the 1100 block of Retallack Street. Early information indicated the weapon may be a pellet gun, but police secured the area, treating the call as a firearm complaint. The Communications Centre advised the occupants of neighbouring houses to stay indoors, while police tried to establish phone contact with the occupants of the suspect house. Shortly after 9:00 a.m., after negotiation, people started to emerge from the house, with the last of the occupants coming out after 10:30 a.m. A number of people were initially taken into custody, with at least three male suspects being questioned in connection to the discharge. Police believe the weapon was a pellet gun, but have not yet recovered the weapon used.
Investigation into this matter is ongoing.
