Just before 5:00 am on June 16th, the Regina Police Service responded to a report of an injured male on the north shoulder of Ring Road between Albert Street and Argyle Street. Police located a deceased male who appeared to have been hit by a vehicle while walking.
Investigators closed Ring Road for part of this morning while they conducted their investigation.
This afternoon, Regina Police Service investigators located the suspect vehicle, a Ford F150 pick-up. Three people were taken into custody for questioning. This evening, charges have been laid in relation to this incident.
Charged is 25 year old Shane BENSETTE (87/09/23) of Regina, Saskatchewan. BENSETTE has been charged with Fail to Report Accident Causing Death as per Section 252(1.3) CC. BENSETTE will make his first appearance in court tomorrow at 9:30 am.
The victim’s name has not yet been released.
