What is your vehicle saying to thieves as they pass by? “Shop now while supplies last,” “Help yourself,” Or “Keep moving, nothing to see here?”
Since the end of May, the Regina Police Service has received over 85 Theft from Auto reports and reports of 51 Break and Enters to garages.
Many of these incidents are completely preventable by giving thieves the cold shoulder. Remove your valuables from the vehicle. Remove enticers like spare change and garage door openers from plain sight. Lock your doors and don’t keep spare keys for one vehicle inside the other one. You worked hard to gain those possessions, too hard to just give them away for free via an unlocked door, or leaving them in plain sight.
Crime prevention isn’t just a one person job; it’s something in which the whole community can participate. Police do their part by responding to crime in progress, but you can help us stop crime before it happens by removing valuables and locking your vehicles and garage doors. As always, report suspicious activity to police by calling 306-777-6500. If you see a crime in progress, call 9-1-1.
