The Regina Police Service is reminding residents to be cautious and aware of scams in our community.
On June 1st, police were dispatched to a complaint of a scam. A male and a female had approached a couple who were outside working in their yard and tried to sell them jewellery (rings and necklaces). The suspects told the couple that they were trying to fund their trip back to Toronto. The male of the couple was persuaded by the suspects to go with them to an ATM. Once there, family intervened so no money was obtained. When family members confronted the suspects, they drove away. The male suspect is described as male, Middle Eastern descent, dark skin, short black hair, some facial hair, possibly in his 50s, wearing a yellow checkered shirt. The female suspect is described as female, Middle Eastern descent, fair skinned, in her late 50s, wearing a head scarf and a black dress with red beading on the front. The suspects drove a small silver Nissan.

Please talk to family members and friends about scams such as these and don’t purchase things unless you know what you are buying and who you are buying it from. A similar scam has been carried out in neighbouring provinces and Saskatoon Police had a similar public warning several weeks ago.
