On Tuesday, May 21, 2013, members of the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit arrested a 67 year old Regina male in central Regina.
After a two week on-line investigation utilizing a local social media site, investigators arrested Ronald Robert SCHOENTHAL (DOB- January 6, 1946).
SCHOENTHAL was charged with “Making Sexually Explicit Material available to a Child”, “Agreeing to commit a sexual offence against a child”, and “Luring a Child” after communicating with a person under 16 years of age.
SCHOENTHAL will make his first court appearance on July 2, 2013
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the R.C.M.P., Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
