The sun is out, the birds are singing and property crime is on the rise.
The Regina Police Service is asking Regina residents and business owners to take a closer look at their homes, businesses, and vehicles with crime prevention in mind. The warmer weather brings an increase in property crimes like Mischief, Break and Enter, and Theft from Auto. Over the past weekend there were 46 reports of Mischief, 14 Break and Enters, and 7 stolen vehicles. Simple steps such as locking doors, removing valuables, spare keys, and garage door openers from vehicles at night can help prevent your things from being stolen.
Police rely on the public to be our extra set of eyes and ears as we patrol the city. Who knows your neighbourhood better than you? If you see vehicles or people that do not belong to your neighbours, have a second look at their actions. If you see any suspicious activity, report it to police by calling 306-777-6500. Anyone who sees a crime in progress should call 9-1-1.
If you have information pertaining to a crime from this weekend, please call 306-777-6500 to report it to police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
